WER UK launched the first UK contest at Sheffield University in July. Fifty Sheffield children competed against children from Shanghai. Robotics PhD students judged the event and the Lord Mayor of Sheffield attended.
The UK WER 2019 Open and Final entry is officiated by WER UK. Training in teams is acquired through programmes organised by participating institutions or at the Discovery STEM Education Centre. The thirty highest scoring UK teams (ten from each age category according to WER regulations) will be selected from participating educational institiutions at Open events as announced on the WER UK Facebook page . These teams will have the opportunity to compete against children from another country at the UK final of the World Educational Robotic Contest on the 27th and 28th July 2019 at Sheffield University (competition final entry fee of £30 per child). UK final winners will be eligible for entry into international competition. Please note that each competition participant must have achieved a certificate of training through a minimum attendance of ten sessions, although WER UK recommends continued attendance at training.
