STEM Fledglings

Feeding Everyone Forever!
 5 sessions - Mondays from 16th April to 21st May 2018 inclusive (Bank holiday 7th May)
 9.30 to 11.30am
 
Using STEM to understand some of the most urgent issues challenging our food security, and to engineer potential solutions 
 
Fledglings will engage in a range of exciting STEM challenges and activities, with some sessions exploring some of the issues and potential solutions to the challenges of food security. 
Build Aquaponics systems to reduce dependence on fertilisers, explore soil degradation and erosion with Biology, Chemistry and Physics, investigate the challenges our pollinators are facing.. and more.
Fledglings will also gain scientific skills and experiences towards their bronze, silver and gold “Discovery Skills Awards”. 
Build on attainment in previous sessions or start working towards the next award. 

STEM Apprentices

Feeding Everyone Forever!
6 sessions - Tuesdays from 17th April to 22nd May inclusive
9.30 to 11.30am 
 
Using STEM to understand some of the most urgent issues challenging our food security, and to engineer potential solutions.

 Apprentices will further develop their understanding of experimental protocol and data collection as they build Aquaponics systems to reduce dependence on fertilisers, explore soil degradation and erosion with Biology, Chemistry and Physics, investigate the challenges our pollinators are facing.. and more.
 

STEM Professionals 

Feeding Everyone Forever!
5 sessions - Thursdays from 26th April* to 24th May 2018 inclusive
12 noon to 2pm
 
Using STEM to understand some of the most urgent issues challenging our food security, and to engineer potential solutions.

Professionals will use and develop their experimental, data collection and critical analysis skills as they evaluate media reports of food security, build Aquaponics systems to reduce dependence on fertilisers, explore soil degradation and erosion with Biology, Chemistry and Physics, investigate the challenges our pollinators are facing.. and more. 
 
*Creative construction final session scheduled 19th April due to weather

GCSE Biology Group

Genetics and Evolution 
 6 sessions - Wednesdays 18th April to 23rd May 2018 inclusive
 12 to 2pm
 
Development of evolution and genetics, Mendel, Cloning, Speciation, Fossils and Extinction
 
(Please note that GCSE qualifications are awarded by GCSE examining boards. They are not awarded by schools or other educational organisations who teach GCSE sessions. A GCSE can not be awarded by Discovery STEM Education for attending GCSE group tuition sessions.)

GCSE Chemistry Group 

Chemistry of the Atmosphere
5 sessions - Wednesdays 25th April to 23rd May 2018 inclusive
9.30 to 11.30am
 
Composition of the atmosphere, greenhouse gasses, climate change and pollution
 
(Please note that GCSE qualifications are awarded by GCSE examining boards. They are not awarded by schools or other educational organisations who teach GCSE sessions. A GCSE can not be awarded by Discovery STEM Education for attending GCSE group tuition sessions.)
