An opportunity for Home Educated learners to apply their creative and inquisitive skills and explore exciting STEM activities. They will engage in important science practicals that extend beyond the school curriculum and will learn about a variety of STEM related careers. Each session is heavily differentiated to meet the needs of every learner. Unique methods of engagement are used by highly qualified and experienced facilitators in specially designed practical activities.
Funding to develop new resources for our Home Ed. projects from the Department of Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Sheffield. We look forward to welcoming machanical engineering PhD students who will be inspiring our budding scientists and engineers.
Two bursaries per half term are awarded to home educated children attending sessions at the Discovery STEM Eduction Centre.

Usually for learners aged 5 to 8. Slightly older children who are working at this level are welcome.
Usually for learners aged 9 to 12. Younger children working at this level are welcome.
An exclusive group for students 11+ who have demonstrated consistent professionalism. STEM Professionals find their understanding of experimental protocol challenged and their knowledge of STEM subjects extended. Through a mixture of project work and stand alone sessions, STEM Professionals explore Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics by designing, conducting and reporting scientific experiments, analysing data and applying their knowledge to real life challenges. STEM Professionals will benefit from optional work to take home, the use of scientific and engineering equipment and opportunities to meet working scientists. These sessions will provide an insight into the level of content and learning environment of our GCSE sessions.
